Pastor, Preacher, Educator, Husband, and Father -The Rev. Errick L. Baldwin is a native of Pittsboro, North Carolina. He is the son of Herman Baldwin and the late Carolyn Baldwin. He was nurtured in his faith at Mitchell’s Chapel AME Zion Church. Rev. Baldwin aspires to serve as a transformative leader whose life centers around three callings; the ministry of family, the ministry of education, and the ministry of the Church. An advocate of education for all people; Rev. Baldwin is a lifelong learner and has earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC, (2001), a Master of Divinity from Duke University, Durham NC (2008) where he was also awarded the Hoyt Hickman Award for Outstanding Student in Liturgical Studies, and a Master of Arts in Education (Higher Education Administration) from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (2019).
An ordained Elder in the AME Zion Church, Rev. Baldwin answered the call to Christian ministry in 2004 under the pastoral leadership of Rev. C.E. Willie III at the Rush Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was ordained as a Deacon and as an Elder by Bishop Richard K. Thompson in 2006 (Deacon), 2009, (Elder). Rev. Baldwin has pastored congregations in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana. He was first appointed to his current pastoral charge of Big Zion AME Zion Church in Roseland, Louisiana, The Mother Church of the Louisiana Conference, in 2014 by Bishop Mildred B. Hines.
Alongside of his work in Christian ministry, Rev. Baldwin serves as the Director of Adult Education for Northshore Technical Community College, and serves on the Executive Board of the Louisiana Association for Public, Community, and Adult Education. He is happily married to Mrs. Angie L. Alston Baldwin, and the couple have four children- three daughters, Daonna, Seanna, Rosalyn, and one son, Phillip.
Mrs. Angie L. Alston Baldwin is a native of North Carolina and credits her upbringing in the small, southern town of Goldson, as a source of inspiration, for community building and dreaming big dreams. Her faith journey began at Thompson Chapel AME Zion Church in Golston, NC under the tutelage of her parents, the late Mr. Eljay Alston and Mrs. Roberta Alston.
She is a gifted playwright and writer of historical fiction. She is also an inspirational speaker who strives to reach women and families from all backgrounds and nationalities. Mrs. Baldwin further honed her writing talents through her selection as part of the Hurston Wright Foundation Writer's week based at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She also was a Writer in Residence at the Weymouth Center in Southern Pines, N.C.
Alongside of serving as the First Lady of Big Zion, Mrs. Angie Baldwin is the Executive Director of A Hug For Love, a mission driven non-profit, since 2018. She was a contributing member of the Bible Chat Central team from 2022- 2025. She studied history at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Angie Baldwin and Rev. Errick L. Baldwin's four children - Daonna, Seanna, Rosalyn, and Phillip, are her life's greatest joys.
